The Uncommercial Traveller is a collection of literary sketches and reminiscences written by Charles Dickens. The sketches were written over three periods in the latter part of Dickens’ life. The first series appeared in All the Year Round with 16 articles appearing irregularly between January and October 1860, all under the title The Uncommercial Traveller. They were later republished (as 17 articles) in a collected volume with the articles given more individual titles.
Dickens followed the 1860 series with another twelve articles that appeared between May and October 1863. Five years later, eight more articles were published, with seven of them under the title New Uncommercial Samples. A complete set of these articles was published posthumously in 1875.
