The Guild of Literature and Art was one of a number of philanthrophic projects that the Victorian author Charles Dickens devoted his time and energies to helping. The aim of the Guild was to help retired artists, and although it managed to build homes to support this ambition, the organisation closed less than fifty years after it had started.
