The Boarding-House

Quotations from the Charles Dickens sketch The Boarding-House.

The following is our archive of quotations from the Charles Dickens sketch The Boarding-House, originally published in two parts, in The Monthly Magazine. The first part appeared as The Boardinghouse in May 1834 and the second as The Boardinghouse-No. II in August 1834. The second part was the first time Dickens started to use the pseudonym “Boz“. It tells the story of two consecutive sets of paying guests residing under one roof in Great Coram Street, in the Bloomsbury area of London.
